About David Morphew
Photography has been a passion, since I was given my first camera at the age of eleven.
Work lead me in different directions, but I always managed to keep a camera with me. And photography has always been important, but it’s not just about taking pictures: Photography is about friends and family, it’s about occasions, it’s about major events in your life, it’s about shared moments and really great photographs invoke emotions and memories.
The opportunity to photograph a friend’s wedding, while pretty scary at the time got me hooked and a selection of pretty random commissions, from photographing interiors for a conservatory company to an image for a billboard for a local church made me realise that not only was there was more to life than the M25 and living out of a suitcase, but that I could make a living doing what I love. And now, I regularly shoot images for Warwickshire Life and you’ll find my images in Warwickshire Living, Your Cotswold Wedding, 24/7, Exclusive magazine and many more.
Since launching Photography by David Morphew, I’ve taken every opportunity to learn from the best, studying with photographers from as far away as Australia and California to raise my game. Only now I guess it’s more about making pictures than just taking pictures. But the pictures are only part of photography; if I’m doing my job properly you’ll have a great time as well.
And when someone who doesn’t like being photographed (and it’s rare to meet someone who does) tells me that’s the best picture they’ve ever had, I can’t help quietly going “yesssssssss”. Because for me that’s what it’s all about. They’ve got images they’ll treasure forever and have had an experience they’ll remember forever.
