Photographing Your Special Day
A good wedding is the best party ever! Best man and best mates. It's one big emotional day surrounded by your family and friends with everyone looking their best and having fun.
Modern wedding photography is natural and relaxed in style. It's about how you want to reflect the fun and happiness of your wedding day. But the best, most natural-looking pictures require the imagination, careful planning and skills of a first class professional photographer.
So if it helps, here's my philosophy on wedding photography.
Brides tell me they prefer natural pictures. But most people need a little help and direction to look their very best and that's my role, helping you to relax and have fun, while I set up shots that look great.
And photography should be fun … as well as giving you images to treasure. My job is to take away the stress - so you get to enjoy the photo shoot.
But it's also about working quickly - one of the advantages of working with an assistant is it's so much faster and the guests love it because we don't keep them hanging around. And of course you get to spend more time with your guests.
Before the day
We'll meet to discuss your requirements, work out the type of pictures you want me to take, who's to be singled out for group shots and so on. I'll check out the venue beforehand if I haven't photographed there before. If it rains, snows or there's a volcanic eruption we'll have a plan B.
I'll offer you a complete breakdown of the cost of photographing your wedding so that you know exactly what you're getting. If you want something special or a little different we can work that out too.
On the day
This is where all that preparation and planning pays off. We will usually arrive to photograph the bride getting ready a good two hours before the ceremony and because you'll have two photographers we can also be with the boys whether it's for that early morning game of golf or the swift half in the pub.
Leaving for the church to get there well before the ceremony we'll get some great shots of the groom and his family and friends while making sure we're set up for some discrete shots during the service. Whatever the format of the day, we'll be there to help and take away all the stress.
We've worked at most of the top wedding hotels in Warwickshire and around and in fact many of them recommend us but here are some of my favourite venues for your wedding day
For all but the smallest weddings you'll have two photographers. Jade has been as part of the team since 2006 and brings an amazing eye for detail as well as a second pair of hands. Most brides prefer to have a female photographer for the getting ready shots and you'll miss so many of those spontaneous moments with only one photographer.
After the Wedding
I aim to get the finished pictures to you within two weeks; in most cases they'll be ready when you come back from honeymoon. We'll show you all the images in a special viewing and you'll relive the day all over again. Then we can look at design and style ideas for your album.
I offer a wide range of books but I'll be there to make it as easy as possible, so the finished book will be something very personal and rather special. And if you'd like the images on disk of course we can do that as well.
